Review: Big Hero 6

Big Hero 6 - NZ DadsBig Hero 6 is the Disney movie adaption of the Marvel comic of the same name. This is the first time Disney has used Marvel characters in an animated film. The movie follows Hiro, a super smart young boy who is on a mission to find out who killed his brother and stole his creation. Aided by his late brother’s robot Baymax, and his brother’s geeky friends from the university, they embark on a adventure to find the mysterious villain in the Kabuki mask using Hiro’s creation to wreck havoc.

This movie is a great piece of work, and holds the attention of kids and adults alike. I found that it offered great adult undertones to keep parents interested, while having funny and warm-hearted content to amuse the kids. A lot of laughs to be had with this one, and Stan Lee has an animated cameo, as he does in all Marvel adaptions – see if you can spot him!

All in all this is a great movie for kids and adults alike, and will be perfect for the summer holidays. As this is a comic adaption, I could definitely see the potential for a sequel, and I myself would be looking forward to it.

8.5/10 This movie is a beautifully executed adaption of the Marvel comic, and will keep everyone happy. It does not push the boundaries of the happy ending wrap up, but still ticks all the boxes for NZ Dads.

Big Hero 6 is currently showing in all major cinemas, rated PG – Low-level violence. Run time 108 minutes.
